Challenge #58 - John 14:27

A blessed day to you! Welcome to Stampin' Sisters in Christ, where our challenges are inspired by scripture. We pray you will be blessed by your fellowship with us, as we are blessed by yours!

We are pleased to welcome back Designed2Delight Digi Stamps as our sponsor! One of you lucky ladies will win a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at Designed2Delight for playing in this week's challenge!

Please be sure to stop by and show Designed2Delight some Stampin' Sisters in Christ love!!

Our challenge hostess this week is the lovely Miesje Flach!

Scripture: John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid."

This week it is my privilege to be the challenge hostess and I chose to focus on peace. Often when we think of the word “peace” we think of it in general terms of “peace on earth," or peace between people or countries. Or “peace” becomes a lack of noise or chaos. But I think that there is another aspect of “peace” that is much more personal. It is a peace within that radiates outward. It is a peace that I strive for but do not always achieve.

This verse occurs in the Bible at the last supper when Jesus is talking to his disciples. He is telling them that the peace that He gives to them (and to us) is the peace of His love and ever presence in our lives forever. It is an inner peace that is similar to total acceptance. It is the peace that comes with fully knowing that God is in control and all is well.

This verse is also a part of our weekly mass; we always share a sign of God’s peace with each other before we share Holy Communion. I look into the eyes of our friends and neighbors and strangers and wish them Christ’s peace. They do the same to me. This is a very powerful moment in the mass for me. It is reminder of Jesus’ words to us.

It is the peace that is experienced when I accepted that we could not have biological children 38 years ago. It is the peace when I accepted and embraced that one of our children is mentally handicapped. It is the peace that is the final step of “Lord let your will be done.” I am NOT saying that I jumped right to the peace – for I did not! But when I accepted, the peace came with it so overwhelmingly that my knees almost buckled. That is the peace He wants for all of us.

Peace be with you my friends.
Amen Miesje. And peace be with you!

Beautiful cards, one of them is turned the wrong way though. I chose a peaceful sympathy card to add today. I'm making lots of them for the church bazaar along with many other types of cards also. Thanks for the inspirations and have a wonderful week.
